Next I adjusted each of the tune-o-matic bridge's adjusting string saddles to the center of their adjusting range. Then got two wood screws to use as a transfer punch for marking the holes to drill for the Tune-o-matic bridge. I found two that were close, but the diameter was a bit too small. So I wrapped them with some duct tape until they snugly slid into the mounting holes of the Tune-o-matic bridge. I then placed this under the guitar strings as shown in the photo below:
The Tune-o-matic bridge was properly located when the two guitar strings were directly underneath their locations of the Tune-o-matic bridge, and the distance from the bridge saddle and the center of the 22nd fret were as follows:
High E string = 7.0 inches
Low E string = 7.1 inches
Once the Tune-o-matic bridge was in the proper location, I took a hammer and lightly tapped each wood screw making sure I didn't move the Tune-o-matic bridge. As you can see in the photo below, this marks the spot for drilling the post for the tune-o-matic bridge.
Now its time to mark the stop bar. In my case here, I was lucky in that since I am building two electric guitars at the same time, I had two stop bars. So I took the second one and did the same thing as before with the tune-o-matic bridge. Except this time the distance from the center of the 22nd fret and the hole location is the same for both the low E and the high E string, which is 8 3/4 inches.
